When people volunteer at the Mission, they walk away with a new perspective on their own lives and the impact they can have on others. They’re not only thankful for the many blessings in their lives, but they are eager to give back to others who are less fortunate. John visited the Mission with his parents many years ago and has been faithfully serving our clients as a volunteer since June 2008.
“I have learned to appreciate more of the blessings that I have been given and that God has a plan for everyone,” John shares as a reflection on his time with the Mission.
His compassion for homeless neighbors has led him to teach Bible classes for men and women at the Mission on Thursdays. He rarely misses a week, and often brings in other teachers who can share their insights as well. For John, it is exciting to see clients receive his teachings and be “given new hope and direction.”
As a word of wisdom to anybody who is considering volunteering, John says, “Get ready to see life from a different perspective. You may not realize it but you can make a difference in the world!”
