The Miracle God Has Done in Me
Lorina had always worked hard, holding down jobs as a house cleaner or rental property manager. But like most working poor, this single mother of two lived paycheck to paycheck.
After she lost her roommate, she realized with horror that she could not afford a place for her family to live. Terrified about being thrown on the street, she considered moving in with her mother, an alcoholic drug addict.
“I knew I couldn’t bring my kids there,” says Lorina, whose daughters are 2 and 5. Instead, she came to City Rescue Mission.
“The day I realized I needed to go to a shelter, I was sad, confused and angry at myself,” she remembers.
But now she believes coming to City Rescue Mission was one of the best things she’s ever done. Since joining our program, Lorina has grown leaps and bounds in her relationship with the Lord.
She cries as she describes the way He’s blessed her and her children at the Mission. “I want my kids to see the miracle God has done in me here.”
Lorina has applied for Section 8 housing, and as she waits at the Mission for a place to live, she’s studying for her GED, attending life-skills classes and Bible study, and gaining job skills.
“CRM is about learning, growing and stability,” she says. “I have completely changed my life, and I’ve learned so much. I am so thankful for this place.”
