Excited About Her Future
Christina arrived at the Mission, pregnant and homeless, seeking refuge for herself and her son because the house they were living in burned to the ground. But we could tell Christina was seeking more than shelter—she wanted help building a new life.
Christina had a rough childhood, spending most of her time caring for her chronically ill parents. So when she was old enough to move away from home, she let loose, making a string of bad choices.
The worst was falling in love with an abusive man. “I lost a baby when my husband beat me with a baseball bat,” she confides. She finally fled and moved back in with her parents.
But when her parents’ home burned, she was homeless and alone, until she came here. She joined our Bridge to Life recovery program and now is excited about her future.
Christina, along with several other residents, completed our intensive recovery program and celebrated their graduation, October 26, 2006! Her face leaves no doubt she is delighted with her achievement and with God’s love for her.
Today, Christian has her own home again and dreams of starting her own business building and repairing computers.
