More than 150 men gathered Friday, May 7th at City Rescue Mission for the third annual “It’s a Guy Thing” men’s event. More than $47,000 dollars were raised at the event to help develop a Job Placement Center at the Mission.
The funds raised at this event will help run wiring under the street to the location, expand the bathroom space, purchase four computers for job searching and provide training for clients. The goal of the Job Placement Center at City Rescue Mission is to connect graduates of the Bridge to Life Recovery Program to available jobs in the City as well as provide the training necessary to obtain better paying jobs. Stable employment is key to the success of so many clients that are transitioning back into the community.
“Many thanks to all the men who attended this event. Their compassion is an immeasurable gift to the homeless men of Oklahoma City.” Said Tom Jones, president and CEO, City Rescue Mission.
For information on how you can participate in helping the men at City Rescue Mission please contact Tiffany Webb, director of development, at 232-2709X154 or email twebb@cityrescue.org.
