Church/Large Group Volunteers
City Rescue Mission is blessed to have the compassionate volunteer support of people who want to help homeless, hungry and lonely men, women and children find relief from the streets. These committed volunteers help stretch our staff and resources to keep pace with the increasing needs in our city.
We invite your church, civic group, school, Sunday school class, workplace or circle of friends to join in this effort. We offer three ways groups can get involved in this ministry:
- Become Mission Messengers: Create awareness of CRM within your congregation, community, and workplace. To learn more click here.
- Become a regular volunteer group: A number of volunteer opportunities are available for groups to fulfill community service project requirements or simply impact the lives of those in their own backyard. For example, your group could help serve in the kitchen (5-6 people at a time), pick up trash around the Mission, or choose three drives to collect much needed items. First, your group will need to make at least a three month commitment. This can be fulfilled weekly or monthly.
- If your group isn’t able to make a long term commitment, consider providing dinner and chapel service. Your group would prepare and serve dinner, fellowship with clients dining, and conduct a chapel service following the meal. Also, consider helping out with a specific work project (if one is available), or participate in the current drive and take a tour of the Mission.
Please note: Currently, we can accommodate groups of 20 or less. All members of your group must be 18 years of age or older. However, we can accommodate junior and senior high school age kids accompanied by adult sponsors in specific work projects upon approval. Weekend projects available with two-month advance notice.
