2008 Hearts of Hope

Our Goal: $83,000
Funds Raised to Date: $100,000
Life is never easy when you are homeless, but it’s especially hard for women and mothers with children.
Moms feel the sharp pain of all they’ve lost each time they look into their little ones’ eyes—the warmth of friends, the comfort of familiar surroundings, their clothes and play toys.
Single women often fear for their safety, living in their cars or on the streets. Their desperation can lead them further down a path of drugs and destruction.
At City Rescue Mission, we welcome these women and children to our home. We give them a safe place to sleep and a hearty meal. We tell them how they can overcome their personal pain with God’s love. We help them find hope!
And, thanks to the generosity of Oklahoma City women who have Hearts of Hope, construction will soon begin on the new women and family shelter that has been specifically designed to meet their ever-growing needs!

The Project
For some time, mothers and children in our emergency shelter have slept on mattresses on the floor. Funds from this year’s Hearts of Hope campaign will be used to renovate and expand this area of our facility so we can house 112 women and children a night in safe, comfortable beds. The safety of those seeking shelter at the Mission is our top priority. That’s why renovation plans include increasing security by constructing a new women and children’s only entrance as well as additional security cameras.
