Welcome to City Rescue Mission
Since 1960, City Rescue Mission has been a center for transformation, changing lives plagued with addiction, poverty, mental illness and homelessness to lives filled with stability, health and hope. It’s a vision started by mission founders Herman and Lois Janzen, and one I’m proud to continue and intensify still today.
Our emergency relief services meet the immediate physical needs of men, women and children who are homeless: nourishing food, a hot shower, clean clothing and a safe night’s rest. For some, this help is all they need to get back on their feet.
But for many homeless, their situations are more complicated and challenging and require long-term solutions. Our recovery program provides opportunities for men, women and families to address life issues—addiction to drugs, alcohol and gambling, domestic violence, lack of education and job skills, mental illness, spiritual bankruptcy—and to gain the confidence and knowledge to become productive members of our community.
We believe every person who comes through our doors—regardless of his or her circumstances—should be treated with respect and Christ-like service.
There is only one way this ministry is able to meet the needs of Oklahoma City’s homeless and hurting: God’s guidance and the generous partnership of thousands of individuals, businesses and churches who serve alongside us.
Thank you for your interest in City Rescue Mission. Throughout our Web site, you’ll see firsthand how God is working through this ministry to change the lives of hundreds of hurting people every day. You’ll also read ways you can get involved and make a lasting difference in a homeless person’s life.
With your help—and that of other compassionate friends—we can continue to be a center for transforming lives of the least, the last and the lost.
