More than 150 men gathered Friday, May 7th at City Rescue Mission for the third annual “It’s a Guy Thing” men’s event. More than $47,000 dollars were raised at the event to help develop a Job Placement Center at the Mission.

The funds raised at this event will help run wiring under the street to the location, expand the bathroom space, purchase four computers for job searching and provide training for clients. The goal of the Job Placement Center at City Rescue Mission is to connect graduates of the Bridge to Life Recovery Program to available jobs in the City as well as provide the training necessary to obtain better paying jobs. Stable employment is key to the success of so many clients that are transitioning back into the community.

“Many thanks to all the men who attended this event. Their compassion is an immeasurable gift to the homeless men of Oklahoma City.” Said Tom Jones, president and CEO, City Rescue Mission.

For information on how you can participate in helping the men at City Rescue Mission please contact Tiffany Webb, director of development, at 232-2709X154 or email twebb@cityrescue.org.

"It's a Guy Thing"

The Mission is getting prepared for the third annual “It’s a Guy Thing” Men’s Event. An event for men, planned by men to benefit the men living at City Rescue Mission.
Just like Oklahoma City is changing, so are the needs of the homeless in our community. As we are “Building for a Better Future” for this great city, we must do the same for those who are in need. City Rescue Mission has acquired a 1,000 square-foot building directly across from the main facility and the possibilities are endless, however so are the costs. This year’s, “It’s a Guy Thing” will be raising money to develop a new Job Placement Center in this building. In order to get this area up and running, wiring needs to be run under the street to the location, four computers purchased for job searching, heating and air conditioning added, the bathroom expanded and clients need to be trained.

Please join in “Building for a Better Future” for the men at City Rescue Mission by attending a catered lunch on Friday, May 7th at the Mission from 11:45 AM- 1:00 PM. If you would like to come please email your name and address to Tiffany Webb at twebb@cityrescue.org so we can reserve you and your friends a seat. There is no charge to attend the event, however during the program there will be an opportunity to give towards the project. If you cannot attend but would like to help with the project, donate online or mail in your gift.

You're invited to join our celebration!

You’re invited to join our celebration tonight, April 7th from 4:00-6:00 PM at City Rescue Mission!

Tonight is an exciting night at City Rescue Mission, we are celebrating the opening of our expanded medical clinic. Thanks to our generous donors, we now have five new exam rooms. This will allow our staff to serve more clients.

Men, Women and children who are homeless often lack proper health care because of high costs and lack of availability. At the Mission medical care is available to everyone who enters the facility free-of-charge.

City Rescue Mission utilizes the skills of a full-time nurse practitioner and a licensed practical nurse to provide cost-effective, high-quality primary care to its guests. Having a nurse practitioner as a primary care provider allows the Mission to maximize the use of donated funds, while providing guests onsite exceptional care at no cost to them. Debbi McCullock, family nurse practitioner, provides this care to all patients at the Mission. Debbi is able to offer examinations, diagnoses and treatment for acute and chronic conditions as well as preventative health care for children and adults.

By expanding the medical clinic, we were also able to expand our dental clinic! This space now allows the Mission to provide much-needed dental hygiene and even dentures to any person in need in our community.

Arggiornamento "Art for the Faith"

Many of the stories we are hearing are of hard-working individuals who simply lost their job or couldn’t make ends meet. The Oklahoman produced a story on one such individual last week. This event, in it’s eleventh year, brings influential women of Oklahoma City together to help the women and children at City Rescue Mission. More than 550 women gathered to hear stories of success over addiction, hopelessness and chronic homelessness. One of those stories was Judy Jefferson, Bridge to Life member, homeless her whole life she traveled from Iowa to enter the program at the Mission. After arriving, Judy had her forth child and is building her relationship with her husband and children as they all grow in their relationship with the Lord and each other. “Being here has been a blessing, City Rescue Mission has given me Life!” said Judy.

We would like to extend our appreciation to the women of Oklahoma City, who stepped in the gap for the homeless women and children needing the life-giving services provided at City Rescue Mission. Also a huge thank you to this year’s Co-Chair’s Barbara Green and Jules Kloefkorn and our friends at Eventures!
