Last Friday’s event was awesome! It was so exciting to see so many men from all over Oklahoma come to the Mission to support the men living here. The goal of the event was to raise $50,000 and we are currently at $47,000- such a blessing to City Rescue Mission.

Thanks to the men at this year’s It’s a Guy Thing, we are now looking into taking the next steps towards getting the Job Placement Center on its way to serving the homeless of Oklahoma City. Bids will come in soon and then we will get to work.

The highlight at this year’s event was hearing Arte’s Story. Arte is a client in the Bridge to Life Recovery Program who is working towards becoming a productive member of society. He came to the Mission when his search for work was unsuccessful and was ‘rescued’ by the Mission. Please take a minute to watch his story by clicking here.

If you would like to help develop the Job Placement Center, click on the “Donate Now” button at the top of the page or contact Tiffany Webb, director of development, at 232-2709X154. Thank you and have a blessed day.

First "Compassion Card" Client

Today is Monday March 8, 2010. City Rescue Mission launched the new program of the Compassion Card today. This card allows for concerned compassionate citizens to respond to the needs of the individuals that stand at the street corners holding signs that say “hungry, homeless, please help”. No more do you have to wonder what they might do with the money you give them. Now you can simply give them one of the Compassion Cards and the mission will go pick them up and help provide the food and shelter they ask for.

Today, we picked up our first “Compassion Card” client. They had gone by a local church and asked for food and clothing. The church referred them to City Rescue Mission by giving them one of the cards. When we picked the gentleman he had been walking in the rain and was very wet. He recently got out of prison and had need for assistance. After a good hot meal and a new set of clothing, we began working with him to establish a plan for his re-entry into society. We have so much to offer those that think they only need something to eat. Please help us by handing out the cards to all who ask for help!!

We are excited that you here and taking time to find out about the life changing work taking place at the Mission each day.

City Rescue Mission is dedicated to providing solutions to the many issues that homeless men, women and children face each day. When a person enters the Mission, they are searching for answers. Many are lost in their circumstances and have no hope for their future. We encourage them to see beyond their issues to find a solution to their situation.

When a person arrives at the Mission they have a 30 day trial period to either enter our Bridge to Life Recovery Program, find a job, or enroll in an education program that will provide a better future for them. Our goal is to encourage each individual to solve their homelessness and our dedicated staff helps guide them toward solutions daily.
